ELMO 1012S-XL Repair & Modify
Elmo Super 8 Sound 1012S-XL Macro
The power dial on this camera makes no sense.
Set to "ON" when the grip is raised.
Set to "T" when the grip is folded.
When checking the battery, set it to "BAT" and press the button.
However, when the power is turned on, the LED shines, so the battery check is meaningless.
I don't understand why this camera has such a mechanism.
Other than that, it's a very good camera!

This camera has a very unique mechanism, so it would be difficult without a service manual. You can probably get a service manual on the internet. My camera stopped working after 10 minutes. Maybe a motor problem. But I don't have the energy to fix this camera anymore...

A Russian friend sent me gear and a mirror. Thanks to that, I was able to repair. This camera does not use ball bearings. Grease and oil are important. Regular lubrication is required. To be more accurate, need to balance the mirror. I was lucky that the motor was alive.
Canon 1014XL-S Is repair possible or impossible?
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.3 года назад
I really wanted to fix this great camera. It has a 6.5mm-65mm sharp wide zoom lens. The cause was deterioration of the gear. Luckily I found a similar gear. There were no failures on the dials this time, but these are the parts that are prone to failure. I reinforced it just in case. Plastic parts are a common problem with old 8mm cameras.
Leicina Super RT-1 Repair

I got very cheap junk Leicina. I don't use lap-dissolve, but I wanted to get all the features working. Eventually, the beam splitter left a mold mark, but the viewfinder was very clear. It's a pity that this camera doesn't have a manual exposure dial.

    Amazing tear-down and mods! Two questions for you! With regard to focus: Do you know on the adjustable viewfinder, of the 15 clicks, is there a "unity" setting for someone with "perfect" vision? I figured at 7 clicks was middle? 2nd question, when manually setting exposure (knowing the camera baseline is Tungsten 40/160 ASA), there appears to be no change in aperture through the viewfinder, but I believe this is to do with how the reflex viewfinder is set up. Thoughts, and thanks again for your excellent and instructive videos!

    I have a 160 that was working great, then the batteries leaked and when they do, they can kill the motor, at least maybe temporarily. I will try to get mine fixed at some point, but the other issue you did not have is that the clips that hold the batteries can break easily as mine did, so I will need to figure out how to fix those before I try to clean the motor to see if but can be saved. will; keep it for parts otherwise when I can get another working one cheap. The 150, 155 and especially 160 are the best and only Super 8 cameras Bolex made because they underestimated the popularity of the format, so Eumig and Chinon made the rest of the mo9dels that have their name on them, then Eumig folded early. A schematic does exist not he camera and shows how complex it really is. Even fi you did not succeed in fixing this at the time, it is another vital priceless video that can help serious filmmakers possibly save and fix one of the best super 8 cameras out there. Thanks again!

  • @nicholassheffo5723
    @nicholassheffo5723 11 месяцев назад

    Brilliant, priceless video, especially since few people and places are repairing Super 8 cameras anymore. Over half of super 8 cameras are unfixable due to deterioration or just being made cheaply of decaying plastic parts like most Kodaks (save theM2 and M4, among other makes) and the Leica is one of the best ones ever made, so thank you!

    Hi guys. The procedure of take to pieces of mechanism show good, but, more important, procedure of assembling and adjusting of camera mechanism missing profile, because, the syncronization diagrams move of shutter disk, transport pin and registration pin important too much. And you must adjust position of shutter disk too.

    at 5:05, would it not be more prudent to put the pins into a lathe and cut an e-clip grove, and install these with e-clips and a wavy washer?, much simpler, OR thread the pin and screw it up from the rear.

    That was both impressive and scary. I've found on these japanese cameras that using JIS screwdrivers is much better than regular phillips and safer. JIS configuration are what's used on japanese motorcycles so it only stands to reason that they'd use the same in all manufacturing. I have an issue with my 1014XLS with the handle stuck in the up position. As you took the handle apart it it showed me what to expect and look for with mine. I think it's the spring.

    • @MarksPhoto
      @MarksPhoto 7 месяцев назад

      Yes, JIS for Japanese cameras. If the driver head doesn't fit in there tight and snug, it isn't right, and will strip out.

    That is a great looking 16mm camera. Is it feasible to convert it to Super 16 or Ultra 16? Since the mirror shutter sweeps the image from side to side and there is a single lens mount, it might be possible.
